ONLINE MANUAL
Chapter 8. Multimedia/Database
8.4 USING PHP to ACCESS YOUR DATABASE

PHP, also known as PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, is an open-source scripting language and interpreter. It is used primarily on UNIX Web servers and is an alternative to Microsoft Active Server Page (ASP) technology.

PHP also provides support for accessing several databases, including MySQL and mSQL. AdvancedNetworkHosts's UNIX Gold Plus plans and above provide support for PHP. You can order PHP support for your domain using SiteControl's Plan Info module. For details on ordering features.

At AdvancedNetworkHosts, PHP is run as a CGI binary. You may be familiar with PHP as an Apache module. AdvancedNetworkHosts does not, however, run PHP as an Apache module on our shared servers. AdvancedNetworkHosts supports "mod_php" only on dedicated, unmanaged Linux servers.

Each PHP-enabled domain has its own separate PHP environment that you can control.
